We at Serenity At Home would like to thank and acknowledge every hard working PSW out there who does everything in their power to make their clients and other staff members they work with happy.
In my training and personal experience in this field, I've learned that a lot of the difficult things that come with this job have nothing to do with the clients. I've worked in many different health care settings and have noticed and felt the lack of support from management and other staff members. Things such as lack of training, negative behaviours and even bullying all have a negative effect on workers and clients.
These negative environments in health facilities lead to high turnover rates and burnout with employees. The lack of support and bad attitudes from some staff and management can take a toll on hard working employees that care about their job and the clients they support. Our Serenity at Home team stays in this field because we truly care about our clients and want to make a positive difference in the health care system.
To be a good PSW it is all about nurturing and caring for one another. Workers need to be more supportive and work together to make a difference. At the end of the day we are all there for the clients and workers themselves have a responsibility to be the positive change and to speak up about wrong doings to fix negative work environments.
